4th of July Celebration in Raleigh

On the fourth of July, the John Logan Camp #4 put up a recruiting booth at the Capital Lawn Celebration. The celebration was an old fashioned fun filled event that drew quite a crowd. Out booth had a display of items from the Civil War and the GAR. The displays drew people in and got them talking to us.

The day was hot, but there was plenty of food and displays from other organizations such as the Sons of the American Revolution and The Civil War Round Table.

The 2008 Joseph S. Rippey New Camp Award

Department Commander Doug Ewell was the honored guest at the September meeting. At which time he reviewed for us the significant events which transpired at the recent National Encampment of our society.

The highlight of his visit was the presentation of the 2008 Joseph S. Rippey New Camp Award to the John A Logan Camp #4.  Commander Moore accepted on behalf all Camp Logan members. This banner will be a distinguished and welcome addition to the Federal flag displayed at our Monthly meetings.

This is a great honor for our camp and one worthy of great pride as only one is bestowed  each year. As Commander Ewell stated both the North Carolina Department and the Logan Camp can well be proud of this honor as both organizations were awarded national recognition in their first year as a Camp and a Department
